Selling Things You Know Nothing About

Most eBay sellers have stood in front of an item they know nothing about, wondering if it is worth listing or not. In some cases you know for sure the item has value, but not what it is worth. This happened to us at a recent moving sale.

I spotted an expensive looking rolling suitcase and went over to investigate. The seller saw me looking and said it was a snare drum. A quick peek and I realized it was a student drum - school marching band etc. I know NOTHING about musical instruments. I was in the band for two years in middle school torturing a poor clarinet and hated every minute of it. Even back then instruments cost a lot of money though. I know nothing about drums or condition etc. I decided I would pass. She then told me she paid $400-500 bucks for it and she couldn't take a penny less than $40.

I made a quick trip to the car where I could discreetly look them up on eBay. People often exaggerate worth but that sounded like a deal. I couldn't find that particular one. So I headed to google. Whoa. $400 was exactly what they cost, and some just a bit more. So I bought it, HERE is the listing. I will just have to do the best I can with any questions that people ask, and be honest about my ignorance. I decided to just add a bunch of pictures and if it doesn't sell I will just buy a bottle of Excedrin for my head and give it to my 8 year old for Christmas.
