Item To Watch For - Richard Ginori China

To me this doesn't really look like anything special. It was another box lot item at an estate auction. It is just 6" square. It is a bowl, or shallow tray. I didn't know until I looked it up that apparently Richard Ginori China is a brand to watch for. Proof again that EVERYTHING that you aren't 100% sure of should be looked up before it hits the yard sale pile. The patten on this one is called Rapallo. It was listed Jan 31 & I accepted a best offer of $74.79 this morning, Feb 6.

There wasn't anything online that I could find to use as a pricing guide.  There were other pieces of this pattern in the $40+ range, and one big platter for $174. I just took a guess and listed it at $99.99. Within a few hours I had an offer of $30 that I passed on. I am sure glad I did! As I have nearly nothing in this I think $74.79 is awesome. Add it to your watch list!

Fabulous!! I'm not that familiar with an estate auction...is it something at the end of the day...or just an auction from the beginning.

Thanks so much for sharing!

Here they have a estate sales on Saturday and Sunday. Regular price on Saturday, 1/2 price on Sunday. At 3pm on Sunday all remaining items are auctioned off by the table full. The one I prefer to go to is priced super high, so she doesn't sell a lot on Saturday. Even after the 1/2 price sale Sunday there are many good things left. I get them for a small fraction of what they were originally asking at the auction.
